The baseball team defeated SUNY-Maritime, 11-8, in a non-conference game played Tuesday night at Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx.

Freshman pitcher Jonathan Perozzo carried a one-hitter into the seventh inning and finished with five strikeouts to record his first collegiate win.

Tristan Cetto pitched a solid ninth to clinch his first save, while 2B Montana Leonard and SS Cesar Chaves put together a solid double-play in the ninth to help nailed down the third straight win for the Bearcats (4-4, 3-1 CUNYAC).

Baruch used a five-run, fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Charles Dantone and an insurance RBI single by Thomas Russo in the eighth, to fight off a comeback by Maritime (1-12).

3B/OF Adam Hoyle, named Player of the Week by both the CUNYAC & ECAC, hit his second home run in as many games during the third inning to finish with three RBI and three runs scored. C/P Wayde Anderson also connected for his first homer to complete a back-to-back effort with Hoyle.

Baruch received a solid effort from the rest of the team, led by the Arby Gega's two hits, two runs scored, and three stolen bases.

Ray Mowatt stole his seventh base of the season in the bottom of the eight inning. He is a perfect 7-7 in stolen bases this season.

Maritime trailed at one point, 10-3, but managed to rally to get as close as 10-8, until Baruch scored the insurance run and shut them down in the ninth inning.

Baruch baseball will return to action this Thursday afternoon with a non-conference road game at Polytechnic. First pitch at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
